Who’s Independent?

I was weeding around the strawberries, and chocolate mint and found about half a dozen little strawberry plants.   They are very small and seem to come from seeds instead of coming from roots growing from a stem.  They are unique plants, not clones.

Today is Independence Day in the USA.  I think about the bold men who signed the Declaration of Independence.  Were they scared?  And, the war that followed, the stories of sacrifice seem infinite.

I wonder how many Declarations of Independence have been signed throughout history. I wonder how many revolutionary, and civil wars are still being fought, how many countries have been forced to rejoin a union.

I’m going to look after these young strawberry plants, clear away more weeds, give them extra water on hot days.  But, I’m curious which ones will make it to spring.
